General Notes

In March 2012 and May 2010 I tested places for fish - mostly Irish pubs. Two others tested with me in 2012.These are the best we found:

Ratings

1.  Crown and Anchor on west Tropicana near UNLV campus. (about 4550 West). In 2012 it was better than in 2010, when it tasted frozen. In 2012 the server said they switched to fresh about that time. Grade B+

2. Fulton's Fish Frye at New York New York. B

We tried all the other top-rated places but they didn't come close to the above two. A few included:

a. McMullins, near the Orleans B

b. Lazy Joe's

c. Ri Ra, at 3930 Las Vegas Blvd. South. C+ for the big piece of fish. The chips grade an A.

D. Fado's Pub

E. Sean Patrick C-

Notes:
a. Former number one has changed from an A to a C-: Nine Fine Irishmen at New York, New York hotel. Reason: changed recipe.

b. Best catfish in Vegas: Shucks Tavern.  Catfish A+, Battered cod and halibut: C+
Other irish food: Shepards Pie at Sean Patricks in 2010: A-. (but fish a C-)
